The Photographs - Ghislaine Maxwell Trial Day 7
“Meder did not identify the man.”
The government’s examination of Kimberly Meder, the FBI analyst who reviewed the hard drives seized from Epstein’s NYC home in 2019, had few surprises.
One phrase dominated: “It’s a photo from a CD I reviewed from the Epstein and Maxwell investigation.” Meder repeated that over and over, for nearly every exhibit that the government showed to her on examination.
The pictures the government showed, taken over a period of years, mostly showed either Maxwell by herself, or Maxwell & Epstein together. The photos were casual, showing them posing intimately across seasons and locales, looking like a happy couple.
In one point of view shot, a smiling Maxwell wears a white tank top under a white unbuttoned blouse, and pulls a foot against her chest. Maxwell is holding the foot like she’s massaging it, and she’s pushing her cleavage up with it.
Another, wider shot taken from a different angle shows Epstein and Maxwell from the side, both looking at the camera happily, on what looks like an airplane. In this second shot, Maxwell’s shirt looks like it’s been loosened further.
There were plenty of photos submitted by the government. A list of descriptions of them is below:
Maxwell kisses Epstein’s cheek. In the background, men march on a street in stylized blue sailor suits.
The couple sits in a helicopter, Epstein wearing a blue shirt with his arm wrapped around Maxwell’s shoulder.
Jeffrey Epstein wears a tuxedo, Maxwell kissing his cheek from the side.
Epstein sits on a red motorcycle, pulling a goofy face. Maxwell sits behind him, both smiling at the camera.
Epstein and Maxwell wear winter coats in front of a grey stone wall. Epstein is wearing a big grey Russian-style hat. Maxwell wears a black cap with ear flaps.
Maxwell is photographed from behind, tanning in a bikini on her back on a white deck with a view out to a sunny body of water with hills in the distance.
Epstein holds Maxwell from behind, one arm over her shoulder, holding her opposite shoulder from the front, tight.
Epstein sits at right wearing a blazer & white turtleneck. To the left sits Maxwell with a medium sized Brown dog with shiny fur.
In another, Jeffrey Epstein and Maxwell are together in front of the base of a statue. Epstein wears a brown jacket.
Maxwell wears a jean jacket with a USA flag patch, sitting by a plane window.
Epstein sits to the left of Maxwell on the porch of a wood cabin. There are trees in the background.
Maxwell and Epstein stand wearing heavy coats in a scene in a park with fallen snow.
A second picture from the park from another angle. Epstein is holding Maxwell’s face, and wearing a red snowsuit.
Maxwell sits to the left of Epstein. Both are smiling and wear sweaters with collared shirts underneath.
Maxwell hugs and kisses Epstein in front of a body of water. Epstein wears a T-Shirt. Maxwell wears a white spaghetti strap shirt.
One picture contained a third man. He looks around the same age as Epstein and Maxwell, who look middle-aged in the picture. He’s wearing a yellow shirt and brown pants. Meder did not identify the man.
The government also submitted two pictures under seal. The first wasn’t identified or described. The second, which the jury looked at in their binders, was described as a topless photo of an underage Virginia Roberts.
Under cross examination from Laura Menninger, Meder testified that “there were probably hundreds” of CDs that she examined.
In one set, there were 20,000 photos, Menninger said. In another, there were 18,000.
Meder testified that there were initials on the bottoms of the pages in the black binder. On the disks there were dates, like in the CDs pictured below.
