I’ve been crisscrossing France the past month reporting on the presidential election. Today’s the day of the final vote. It’ll be Emmanuel Macron again or Marine Le Pen in the presidential palace. Results come in at 8PM Paris time. After that though, the elections aren’t exactly over. On June 12th and 19th there are two rounds of legislative elections. And the left-wing candidate Jean-Luc Mélenchon, who I wrote about here, came heartrendingly close to beating Marine Le Pen out for the second round.
So last Wednesday, he asked the French people on television to vote for him for Prime Minister of a country, by electing a majority of deputies from his movement l’Union Populaire to the National Assembly.
I wrote about his Prime Ministerial turn, and his effect on the second round of the election for Verso.
I also appeared on WIONtv, an Indian news channel, to discuss the candidates.
I’ll be at Macron’s headquarters tonight as the results come in. If you’re an editor and want a dispatch, get in touch with me at marlonjettinger@gmail.com.
